CMS Approves Plan to Transform Medicaid Reimbursement in Alabama Schools
Chicago, Illinois, August 02, 2013
On August 02, 2013, CMS gave final approval to the State of Alabama State Plan Amendment and Implementation Plan which will transform and expand Medicaid reimbursement in Alabama schools. In addition to allowing Medicaid reimbursement of additional school based services, including specialized transportation and certain mental health and personal care services, the approved plan also changes the way in which costs for direct services are reimbursed.
These approvals by CMS are the result of extensive collaboration between the Alabama Medicaid Agency, CMS and Fairbanks to bring innovation and expanded benefits to better serve the school children in Alabama. The CMS approved plans will enhance and improve the reimbursement process school districts follow in obtaining Medicaid reimbursement for the services they provide to their students while complying with applicable regulations and guidance from CMS.
